Public Rights in Milwaukee’s Fresh Coast

January 19, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

A lunchtime virtual event where we will explore the past, present, and future of Milwaukee’s Fresh Coast. Much of the city’s coastline and riverfronts are not original — they were built on lakebed or riverbed that was filled to create new land. Join us as we learn from six of the leading minds in this field about what the public trust doctrine is, what is public enough to satisfy the public trust doctrine, whether the state and other developers can exclude the public on these newly created lands and what the permissible uses are on the newly created land.
