The Role of Birds on the Farm Course: Lesson 8 – Farmscape and Landscape Features

Upon successfully completing this lesson, participants will be able to:

  • Explain why farms with semi-natural and natural habitat support more avian pest control than intensive farms.
  • Recommend hedgerows and edge habitat for supporting beneficial birds.
  • Discuss with farmers or neighbors the different types of vegetative habitat.
  • Recommend funding sources for establishing and conserving bird habitat.
