SUMMARY:2021 Virtual Nutrient Management Training for Wisconsin Farmers
DESCRIPTION:Due to the COVID-19 pandemic\, The Nutrient and Pest Management Program (University of Wisconsin-Madison) is offering a virtual training for farmers interested in writing their own nutrient management plans. This training will provide the basics of nutrient management including why use nutrient management\, how to soil sample\, soil test interpretation\, soil pH management\, manure and legume crediting\, soil conservation\, the basics of nitrogen\, phosphorus\, and potassium management\, and an introduction to SnapPlus. The training will take place between 10 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. with several breaks. \nMeeting times (choose 1): \nJanuary 5th from 10 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. \nJanuary 7th from 10 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. \nFebruary 3rd from 10 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. \nFebruary 16th from 10 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. \nMarch 1st from 10 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. \nRegister here.

SUMMARY:Reducing Health Impacts of the Nitrogen Problem – Workshop Series
DESCRIPTION:Nitrogen is a widely-used\, essential input to crop production. In many regions of the United States\, nitrogen from farms has leaked into drinking water and caused adverse health impacts. These health impacts include methemoglobinemia\, a condition that inhibits the blood’s ability to carry oxygen around the body. \nThis workshop hosted by the Environmental Health Matters Initiative (EHMI) will explore what actions can be taken to address the nitrogen contamination problem in agriculture. \nWorkshop sessions will take place every Thursday from 2:30–5:30 PM (ET) from January 28 – February 25\, 2021. \nRegister here.
