SUMMARY:Key Water Definitions of NR 151 - Case Studies and Discussions from the Field Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Water on Wisconsin farms presents itself in many different forms. Even categories like surface water and groundwater have subcategories that often require guidance to define and interpret. Join county\, DNR\, and DATCP staff for the next installment of the NR 151 training webinar series: \nKey Water Definitions of NR 151 – Case Studies and Discussions from the Field \n10:00 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. – Brief reiteration of primary NR 151 performance standards referencing surface and groundwater resources\, and reminder of where to locate previous presentation recordings. \n10:15 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. – Defining and exploring surface water and groundwater resources in a farm setting. \n\nSurface Waters: waters of the state (WOTS)\, water quality management areas (WQMAs)\, navigability\, concentrated flow channels\, intermittent/perennial streams\, setbacks\, subsurface drainage\, “W” soils\, and wetlands. Visual aids/examples provided.\nGroundwater:\n\n§ Karst and shallow to bedrock topographies: “R” soils\, direct conduits to groundwater\, closed depressions\, setbacks\, sites susceptible to groundwater contamination\, mapping tools to help locate and identify features. Visual aids/examples provided. \n§ Sandy Topographies: “P” soils\, direct conduits to groundwater\, sites susceptible to groundwater contamination\, and where nutrient and pathogen leaching has been found to be especially an issue in sands through modeling. Visual aids/examples provided. \n11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. – Questions from attendees answered. \nRegister here. \nYou will receive a confirmation email upon successfully registering. If you do not receive a confirmation email\, please contact Penny at Penny@wisconsinlandwater.org for registration assistance.
