DESCRIPTION:The UW Pesticide Applicator Training Program has created multiple formats for private applicator trainings to address increased training demand. \nA private applicator is someone that applies restricted use pesticides to produce an agricultural commodity on their own property or the property owned or rented by an employer. Examples of agricultural commodities are grain and forage crops\, fruit crops or horticulture products. A restricted use pesticide can be identified by checking the label of the product you wish to use. \nA Private Applicator Certification is valid for 5 years. SUMMARY:Evaluation of Different Sulfur Sources for Corn and Soybeans
DESCRIPTION:Sulfur supplementation has recently received greater interest from the crop production community. The growing desire to supplement sulfur is driven by decreased sulfur deposition from rainfall\, increased yields for multiple crops\, and lower sulfur content in phosphorus-containing fertilizers. Traditionally there have been only a few sulfur sources that producers have relied upon for their sulfur fertilization needs. Today there are more options available to farmers. SUMMARY:Chemical Control of Cattail in Species-Rich Wetlands
DESCRIPTION:Narrow-leaved cattail (Typha angustifolia) and hybrid cattail (Typha x glauca) are aggressive invaders of wetlands in Wisconsin. Integrated Restorations\, LLC\, has been evaluating the use of the selectively-targeted herbicide imazapyr (Polaris) for reversing cattail invasions in species-rich fen and sedge meadow wetlands of the Mukwonago River watershed in southeastern Wisconsin. The treatment protocol they developed reduced cattail stem densities by more than 99% with remarkable improvements in native wetland vegetation species richness\, diversity\, and floristic quality.
