SUMMARY:Role of Birds on Midwest Farms: Lesson #3 Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Lesson #3: Birds in Balance – Pest Control Services Across Corp Types\nThis 10-lesson virtual course teaches agricultural professionals and farmers how to support beneficial birds and manage pest birds on farms. By learning how to assess the farm’s avian needs and opportunities\, farms can be designed to provide for a diversity of beneficial birds. If pest birds are a problem\, they can be discouraged with specific practices during the shorter periods when they cause damage. The sessions cover the latest research\, tools\, and resources\, and are given by experts in avian pest control\, entomology\, ornithology\, and conservation. While many topics and species are specific to the Midwest\, most of the principles discussed are applicable across regions. \nSee Details

SUMMARY:Grazing Cover Crops Field Day
DESCRIPTION:Join us to learn about the opportunities to boost forage production\, improve soil health and fertility\, as well as extending the grazing season through grazing cover crops. \nThe host for this event is Chris Reichert of Reichert Land and Cattle. Chris’s farm is a participating farm in the Between the Lakes Demonstration Farm Network. He is also an agronomist with Country Visions Cooperative. \nWe’ll be checking out his innovative plan to split a newly added field into 3’s (corn\, soy\, and wheat) with cover crops in each. His goal is to make the grazing schedule really efficient! Chris also planted a grazable buffer strip along the field with a unique watering system. \nDetails
