SUMMARY:Pesticide Applicator Training Program
DESCRIPTION:The UW Pesticide Applicator Training Program has created multiple formats for private applicator trainings to address increased training demand. \nA private applicator is someone that applies restricted use pesticides to produce an agricultural commodity on their own property or the property owned or rented by an employer. Examples of agricultural commodities are grain and forage crops\, fruit crops or horticulture products. A restricted use pesticide can be identified by checking the label of the product you wish to use. \nA Private Applicator Certification is valid for 5 years. There are three steps toward certification: purchasing the training manual\, training and taking the test. \nInfo here.

SUMMARY:Watershed education\, outreach\, and engagement: How can Extension support local partners in their programming?
DESCRIPTION:On a regular basis\, the Extension Foundation hosts virtual chats on Connect Extension\, available to all Cooperative Extension professionals. The purpose of these short virtual chats is to highlight best practices and innovation throughout Cooperative Extension and initiative conversations about important issues. Each session will be a different topic area. \nWe will be discussing opportunities and challenges related to watershed education and outreach and discuss how Extension can support our audiences with resources and programming that can help build local capacity. We invite Cooperative Extension professionals to join us to discuss their experiences\, share ideas\, and highlight resources that have helped them and their stakeholders develop successful watershed science and engagement programs. \nInfo here.

SUMMARY:Watershed-Based Fisheries Management in the Driftless Region
DESCRIPTION:Stream fish populations reflect not only the abiotic and biotic conditions within and near the stream\, but those across the watershed. Few places is this more apparent than in Wisconsin’s Driftless Region\, which has experienced significant changes in land use\, climate\, and trout populations over the past 100 years. In this presentation\, Kirk Olson (WDNR Fisheries Biologist – La Crosse) will describe the history of conservation and trout fisheries management in the La Crosse Area and current fisheries management efforts emphasizing watershed-based fisheries management. \nInfo here.
